24 Februari 2018 | Ierland, Ballycastle
We slept in Rijssen, at the house of my uncle, Joas, and cousin, Manoah, who were coming with me and my father to Northern Ireland. This morning, we woke up at five o'clock, so we could depart from Rijssen at 6:00AM. It was an 90 minute drive to Schiphol, where our plane would depart at 10:05. There was a delay of one hour, but finally we were flying at 11:00. The flight took one hour and a half, so we arrived in Belfast at 11:30 GMT. We drove towards Corrymeela, which also took an hour and a half. The landscape was beautiful, very rugged and rocky. The weather was beautiful, but cold. The sun was shining, but very windy. We arrived at Corrymeela, the organisation where I would do my international internship. This was in Ballycastle, the village in the most northern tip of Northern Ireland. From Corrymeela, our view was on the sea, towards Scotland. Corrymeela was different than I expected, it was much greater and more modern than I thought. We got a tour around Corrymeela from a typical Irish man who was very enthusiastic and welcoming; there were two main houses, one ''coventry'' (the volunteers ' residence; where Manoah and I were going to sleep as well) and two apartments. We already met some people/volunteers from different countries and different cultures. They told us dinner was at 6:00PM, so we decided to go with the four of us, down to the village Ballycastle. We sat in a bar and walked on the beach. We (Manoah and I; since my cousin also was a volunteer this week) had to help prepare dinner in the kitchen at Corrymeela, and afterwards we had dinner and then we went to bed.
